Hero Update - Heart Disease
I brought several piggies to Southern Maine Hospital for Small Mammals today, and I know I owe everyone updates on both the new arrivals and those who were seen—but I want to start with Hero’s appointment.

Hero is doing better after some oxygen support and a dose of Lasix.
I’m in a bit of a tizzy—Hero isn’t feeling well. 😔
Hero is growing like a weed! 🌱 But I do have some concerns about his teeth. I’ve been trimming them once a week—which is thankfully pretty easy—but the color of his top teeth often looks like a sign of scurvy.
Hero is back to his popcorning self, and Parody is thriving—he no longer needs to be hand-fed. He’s eating, drinking, and his output is great. The only odd thing is that his stomach makes the wildest noises, which we suspect may be related to the mass in his abdomen.
Today was a very busy day at the vet. Thankfully, nothing was outright terrible—but we did learn some surprising things about a few of our little ones. Here’s a full update!
